Preschool – Focusing on Community

This month, our preschoolers will be focusing on community.   Our focus will be around the book by Mem Fox, “Whoever You Are.”  This story is a wonderful book that celebrates our individuality and diversity.  Mem discusses how we may be different by the way we talk, what we wear, our hair color etc. but despite all of these differences, we are all part of the same world.

We have invited parents in to celebrate their cultures with the children.  This may be done through a special treat, artifacts, music, books, etc. This is a great time to celebrate that we are all “wonderfully made.”

As the month concludes, we will be saying good-bye to our many friends who will be heading off to kindergarten.  It is a bittersweet moment for us, but we are blessed that these children have been in our life for this short time.  As the poem states, “Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again.”

Time after Pentecost

Throughout history, countless stories have portrayed the foreign woman as the primary source of trouble. In the gospel reading for this coming Sunday, a foreign woman argues her case before Jesus, but in the end she is blessed. Come to hear this interesting story, and join us for mercy at the Master’s table.
