Welcome from Cantor Mark!
I welcome you to Trinity, where music is a primary means of proclaiming the good news of God’s love for us and the whole world. Through our music-making, we hope you will encounter God’s active presence in your life and the life of the world. All are welcome to join the song of the church at Trinity!
About Cantor Mark
Mark is the Cantor to Trinity Church. A cantor is a minister responsible for worshipers gathered in song around God’s word and sacraments. At Trinity, our cantor is the organist and principal keyboardist for all worship, directs the congregation’s many choirs, and guides the Music at Trinity series of concerts.
Mark is an active composer, conductor, singer, and concert performer. His passion is for communal song, enlivened by the presence and gifts of voices and instruments. Mark also is passionate about the ways music participates in worship, and how the intersection of worship and music form community, especially communities formed by the Gospel for mission in the world.
Mark began his work at Trinity in October, 2016. Prior to that, Mark served as the 2015 Distinguished Visiting Cantor at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. From 2008-2015, Mark was Director of Worship at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. Mark was the Seminary Musician at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia for eighteen years (1990-2008).
