You Are Welcome!

Hear God’s Word. Receive Christ’s Supper. Live in the Spirit.

Reconciling hearts.
Centered in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, celebrating the gift of God’s welcoming love, and committed to serving our neighbor, we respect each individual’s dignity and worth.

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is a community of faith that believes that each person is a beloved child of God. We renounce xenophobia and repent of our sins of hatred, bigotry and prejudice. Bestowed with God’s grace, we are committed to work for racial equity and justice.

We rejoice in the presence of people of every ability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, race, socioeconomic situation, personal history, or legal status. Whether you are a lifelong resident or new to the community, a lifelong believer or new to the faith, hurt by the church or a seeker of God’s presence, you are welcome here.

Come and See!

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2

Serving Others

Some of the ways we serve our community:

  • Members donate food regularly throughout the year to the Carty Cupboard Food Pantry
  • Eucharistic Ministers deliver Holy Communion to homebound members of the congregation
  • Members staff shifts at the In the Hour of Need Family Shelter (IHN) to help provide a safe home for those experiencing housing insecurity
  • Meal Packing events pack thousands of meals for local residents experiencing food insecurity
  • Trinity is a member of the Worcester Interfaith organization that advocates for policy change in the City of Worcester for our neighbors most in need

Proclaim the Word

Jesus answered him, “It is written, Worship the Lord your God.” Luke 4:8

The primary way we proclaim the Word of God is through the Ministry of Worship. In Worship, the church gathers to help ordinary people proclaim proudly, praising their new identity as disciples of Jesus Christ. It’s what brings individuals from the city of Worcester and Worcester County into one community of faith, gathered in the name of the Holy Trinity. The church gathers not only for acts of worship and spiritual growth, but also to celebrate important life passages and experiences that help to stretch and transform each of us from the inside-out.

Members are invited to participate in worship by serving as assisting ministers, bread bakers, communion assistants, crucifers, lectors, and serving in the Trinity Adult Choir. Contact us for more ways you can serve your neighbors!

History of Trinity

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church came into being on January 1, 1948 by the merger of First, Bethany and Calvary parishes (Founded 1881, 1900, and 1921 respectively). Trinity arrived at its present building and facilities in a series of planned steps through the years 1948-1951.

First came the construction of the nave and a portion of the present Parish Education wing. The latter included Jeppson Hall, Fellowship Hall and the present library – formerly a chapel – offices, and music facilities.

Then came the Christian Education Building which included relocation of the choir rehearsal rooms and the addition of present facilities including the multi-purpose room.

Thirdly, Christ Chapel was added and renovations made to provide the present library.

All portions of the church architecture and artistic appointments are heavily influenced by Scandinavian church architecture.
