AFGHAN RESETTLEMENT UPDATE
NST Update January 19
Our Afghan family arrived last Wednesday. They had been staying at a base in New Mexico since they were evacuated from Afghanistan. They flew to LaGuardia and were brought by van to the Worcester Airport. They have been staying in a hotel, and today they move into their apartment. The Apartment Set-Up team has been working very hard to make a home for the family. The Mom and Dad have a 7 yr. old daughter and 5 teen-agers ( so in all, 3 boys and 3 girls.) No one in the family speaks English, and only the eldest son has been to school. So our education team will swing into action, once they are in their new home. Special thanks to Ken Johnson and the transportation team who took the family to the hotel from Worcester Airport. Ken has helped with Google Translate and has provided transportation to the India Market in Shrewsbury, where they found a clerk who speaks Pashto, which is helpful. Thanks to those who have provided evening meals for the family this past week. We will keep you apprised of new needs as we see them.
