Afghan Resettlement Update

This weekend marks the two-month mark of the Shams family being in Worcester. There is remarkable progress with beginner’s English skills. Our team of volunteers has been working hard on getting various support networks – MassHealth, SNAP, etc. – in place and organizing extra English classes for the parents. The kids are doing well in school we hear with just a few difficulties to work out. We are and will continue for a few months to assist them with rent. We are emphasizing the English skills first. Then a job with growth potential will become our main target. We will also need to rely on some patience while the applications for asylum and other government procedures run their course. Our team participants all thank you for the support you have given.  If you would like to take a turn helping with the Saturday morning program, email Bess Sproul [email protected].
