Letter of Resignation from Pastor Nathan

Tuesday, June 11, 2024

Dear people of Trinity:

This letter serves as notice of my intent to resign my call to serve as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church effective on Friday, July 26, 2024. As you know, the reason for this resignation is the humbling honor of my election as Bishop of the New England Synod. I begin that new call on Thursday, August 1, 2024. My last Sunday leading worship as your pastor will be Sunday, July 21 and I will preside at Holy Communion at Briarwood on Tuesday, July 23. My last day in the office will be Thursday, July 25.

It has been an honor to serve as your pastor. I was thrilled when I received this call by vote of the congregation on Sunday, October 23, 2016. In the past eight years I have sought to perform the duties to which you have called me to the best of my ability. I am grateful for my time at Trinity and for the many ways ministry at Trinity prepared me for my new call as a synodical bishop.

As I pray for the Spirit’s strength and guidance as I start my new call, I trust and pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to bless you with all good things as the Spirit continues to call, gather, enlighten and make holy the whole Christian church on earth and keep it with Jesus Christ in faith. To God be the glory!

Yours in fondness, appreciation, and Christ,

The Rev. Nathan D. Pipho, Pastor
Bishop-elect

New England Synod, ELCA
